Hello! It's Mae Strauss & Ella Culpepper, the high school seniors behind The Baker and The Scribe.

The idea of our little baking company was sparked early in the Summer of 2020. Ella spent some time working at a local bakery where she learned a lot about small businesses and expanded her baking skills. "With everything happening in the world baking was my escape. I would drop cookies off at friends houses. I loved seeing how excited people were to get them and how amazed they were by the decoration (and let's be honest I couldn't keep making a ton of cookies and just let them sit around the house waiting to be eaten)".

Ella decided to do something more with her passion for baking and recruited Mae Strauss for her artistic skills. Mae is now our scribe and self-taught calligrapher. She makes all of our beautiful cards and puts the finishing touches on our cookies. At The Baker and The Scribe we love sharing our combined passion of cookies and calligraphy. Starting this business has been a learning experience but we love what we do and have grown through the process. We can't wait to share our creations with the Charlotte community!
